England Football for
for Channel 4

Channel 4 had the rights to the England men's team’s friendlies and European Qualifiers and wanted to stand out from the dull ‘informative only’ sports promos we’ve become accustomed to ignoring.

Scotland v England

Friendlies… no one cares. Unless it’s Scotland v England of course. The oldest rivalry in football. The unfriendliest of friendlies. The Auld Enemies.

We showcased the historic passion between the two sets of fans, ending with a healthy dose of Channel 4 irreverence.

It’s Just a Friendly, Honest

Our TV and social spots had two national team super fans (David Morrisey and Jack Lowden), back their nation for the victory, building in tension and aggression until our Channel 4 end line cuts in to remind people it’s just a friendly, honest.

In press and social we create realistic flags inspired by the fan-made flags flown throughout stadiums across the country, with cheeky messages antagonising the opponent.

England v Australia

Another friendly, another chance to show why you should care…

In just 20 seconds.

England v Italy

After the heartbreak of the Euro Final, we were about to welcome Italy back to Wembley, with the chance to get some sweet revenge.

Italians might claim they do many things better than us, but whilst we sit neatly at the top of the table, the football is ours!

Back of the net!

Scotland v England was not only the most watched friendly of all time on channel 4, not only the most watched football match on Channel 4, but the most watched simulcast show on Channel 4, EVER! With 10.1 million people tuning in.

The campaign was featured in Campaign, The Drum, and LBB Online, and has been nominated for a Promax Award.

Not pish at all.
