Old Bill, New Media was a campaign I worked on alongside one of our directors at 4Creative to promote Channel 4 Drama series, Babylon. The show, part drama – part comedy, takes a wry look at the people and politics of London’s police force in need of a public image revamp. An American visionary joins the team and sets out to revolutionise the force’s PR department, trying to improve the public’s current perception of the force. The show focusses on the influence of social media and technology, questioning how these platforms can change the age old rules of communicating with the media.
Online, we wanted to bring these themes to the surface in a sharable piece of interactive content. We created a film which included our Technology Initiatives Team-Leader (TIT) introducing each of the initiatives. Users could then vote on their favourite redirecting them to our microsite which revealed that this was, in-fact, promotion for the show.
