Hunted was a channel 4 show that explored the terror that gay people in Russia have to face, that they call: ‘hunting season’. The Dispatches documentary had unique access to vigilante gangs that target gay men and women in Russia using social media and dating websites to their advantage. It depicts a country troubled by disturbing violence and distressing intimidation.
We wanted to bring the shocking themes of the programme to the attention of the UK public by taking over their dating networks in the same way. We set up a profile on Tinder that could be found by people looking for a new relationship. Once users swiped on the account expecting to see more profile images, they instead were shown images displaying the results of the violence on the individuals attacked. The final image was a call to action, asking users to tune in and show their support.
