Every couple of years or so, E4 get their audience’s to make some on-air stings for the channel as part of a competition. The best ones then get selected by a judging panel to go on air. This process had always been a bit clunky though.
My solution for this year was to allow users to enter their work simply via Twitter and Youtube. We partnered with Spredfast, allowing us to monitor all entries before selecting our shortlist and judging the winners that now sit proudly on E4 every day.
We also held a knock-out tournament with head-to-head battles everyday on air. Viewers could vote for the best by simply tweeting a hashtag, eventually crowning the people’s choice champion! Both the judges winner and the people’s choice winner were given cash prizes prompting happy, smiley faces all round.
